  • About Coach Cherry

Lance Cherry, a native of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, began directing the program in 2006. During his tenure the Lady Cats have been a perennial playoff team and have made several deep runs in the playoffs. The 2012  team went to the Regional Finals and set a school record for wins with 25 victories. Recently Coach Cherry was selected as an assistant coach for the TGCA All-Star team. During his time as Tom Bean’s Coach, the program has had numerous All-State, academic All-State, TGCA All-Star, and All-District/Superlative selections as well as many players receiving college scholarships. Previously Coach Cherry coached at Grayson County College (2002-2006), where he served as outfield coach, pitching coach, and director of study hall. In 2002 he assisted with the Lady Vikings volleyball program. During his time at Grayson he assisted Head Coach Kim Teel in leading the Lady Vikings to four straight Regional Tournament berths. While at Grayson he coached 13 all-conference selections, 9 region ten all-stars, and 1 NJCAA All- American. Over Coach Cherry’s career he has instructed youth softball players with programs such as Frozen Ropes Softball, K.A.O.S Athletics, as well as various other camps and clinics in the North Texas area. He is a graduate of Grayson County College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University with degrees in Health and Physical Education. He is happily married to Kelly Cherry. Kelly teaches Special Education and serves as the Girls Coordinator and Head Volleyball coach at Whitesboro High School. Lance and Kelly are the proud parents of a son named Ryon and a daughter named Landry.

"I am very proud to be a part of the Tom Bean family. Our student athletes give 100% on and off the field and that makes it a very easy job to lead these young ladies. I am very lucky to have been blessed to be associated with such a great coaching staff and talented and hardworking girls."
