My name is Lisa Courtney. I am the Dean of Students here at Tom Bean Elementary School.  I began my career in education in 1991.  Previous to becoming Dean of Students, I taught 4th grade for Sherman ISD and for 9 years I taught 5th grade here at Tom Bean ISD.  I knew at an early age education was my calling.  I attended school here in Tom Bean  K-12 and am a proud graduate of this district.  I was blessed to have many wonderful teachers and coaches during those years and hope to emulate the positive impact they made on so many.

I have a passion for helping students develop a deep love and respect for themselves and others.  I want each child to know their voice is heard and they are safe to share their feelings and ideas.  Each child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world.  Part of my job is to help children develop that potential by believing in them as capable individuals.  It is important we as adults help children establish the tools to become successful in life, to believe in themselves, and to love themselves.

Please feel free to call or email me anytime.  As a parent myself, I understand social and academic concerns often develop about our children and am glad to help in any way I can.
